Commencement

Commencement will be on Friday, May 10, 2024 at the University Credit Union Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Commencement Ticket Information

Class of 2024 graduates, please pick up your commencement tickets at External Relations, located on the second floor of King Hall. The deadline to pick up tickets is Wednesday, May 8, by 5 p.m. Commencement tickets that were not picked up will be available at will-call the day of the ceremony, located next to Hutchinson Field (see map here).

Please use the directions below to arrive at the University Credit Union Center. You may also enter the University Credit Union Center’s address, 750 Orchard Road, Davis, CA 95616 into a GPS or use Google Maps with the address inputted.

Driving Directions and Parking
  • From San Francisco
  • - Take US-101 South via the ramp to Oakland/I-80/San Jose.
    - Take the exit onto I-80 East toward Oakland (Partial Toll Road).
    - Slight right at CA-113 North (Signs for CA-113/Woodland).
    - Take the Russell Boulevard exit towards Davis.
    - Turn right at Russell Boulevard.
    - Turn right at La Rue Road.
    - Turn left at Orchard Park Road.
  • From Sacramento
  • - Take I-80 West.
    - Take exit 70 to merge onto CA-113 North toward Woodland.
    - Take the Russell Boulevard exit toward Davis.
    - Turn right at Russell Boulevard.
    - Turn right on La Rue Road.
    - Turn left at Orchard Park Road.

Parking

Once you arrive on campus, the closest visitor parking lots to the University Credit Union Center are the Visitor Parking Lot 25 and the Pavilion Parking Structure. View map here.

Parking is complimentary with registration for all graduates, faculty and commencement guests in the Pavilion Parking Structure and Lot 25 via this link (follow instructions below under "Parking Registration"). 
 
To receive complimentary parking, you must register your vehicle, and your license plate becomes your permit for the duration of the event. For the School of Law Commencement ceremony please use the voucher code LAW24. After completing registration, you will receive an email confirmation with your event details, and you don’t have to worry about printing or displaying anything on your vehicle! For instructions on how to register for complimentary parking watch this video or follow the instructions below.

  • Step 1: Navigate to parking.ucdavis.edu 
    Step 2: Click on Special Event Parking 
    Step 3: Select "Commencement Ceremonies" under Event Type 
    Step 4: Select the ceremony you will be attending
    Step 5: Enter the coupon code LAW24 for the School of Law 
    Step 6: Select Commencement Parking Permit ($0.00) under Permit Type
    Step 7: Select the date of the event (May 10, 2024)
    Step 8: Add your vehicle information
    Step 9: Review the Permission to Park Agreement and select "I agree" at the bottom  
    Step 10: Enter your email address and checkout for the $0 amount 
  • Disabled Parking
  • Graduates and guests with a DMV-issued disabled persons parking placard or license plate will be able to park on a first-come, first-park basis in disabled spaces in Parking Lot 25 and the Pavilion Parking Structure, as well as A, C, and C+ zones. And for those who need assistance, we have Mobility Assistance Shuttles available to assist. 

    Visitors with a disabled placard/plate may park without displaying an additional UC Davis parking permit in spaces where UC Davis DSA permits are honored. Disabled placards/plates are not valid in restricted spaces, loading zones, red zones, center core and reserved areas. More information regarding disabled parking on the UC Davis campus can be found on the UC Davis Transportation Services website. 

For Your Safety

Although UC Davis does not anticipate any security problems during commencement, we take special measures to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and guests at our events. All bags will be checked prior to entering the University Credit Union Center.

List of prohibited items in the University Credit Union Center:

  • No firearms, explosives, or other weapons are permitted.
  • No drugs or alcohol are permitted.
  • Any person found to be intoxicated or carrying drugs or alcohol will be detained or escorted out.
  • No artificial noisemakers, air horns, or megaphones.
  • No balloons or laser pointers
  • No animals -- except assistance dogs -- are allowed in the University Credit Union Center.
  • No large bags, backpacks, oversized purses, or items larger than 12" x 12".
  • Due to safety concerns, strollers and baby carriages are not allowed on the main floor.
  • Signs/Flags/Banners/Posters may not be larger than 3’ x 2’ or attached to a pole/stick made of wood, metal, plastic, or any other hard material. 
  • The University Credit Union Center staff have the authority to prohibit any other items deemed to be a physical security risk. In such cases, patrons will not be allowed to bring those items inside the event venues and they can pick them up at bag check after the event. 

Ceremony

Tickets are general admission seating. TICKETS ARE REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION TO THE CEREMONY AND WILL BE PROVIDED TO GUESTS BY THEIR GRADUATE. The ceremony lasts about 2 hours. 

Livestream 

The ceremony is live-streamed and a recording will be available after the event.

Photography

A photographer will take your picture immediately off stage. Pictures can be ordered online. Family and friends wishing to take photographs of candidates are requested to do so either before or after the ceremony. During the ceremony family and friends will not be allowed to approach the stage or stand in the aisles.

Videotaping the ceremony is allowed as long as the equipment does not obstruct the aisles and other guests' view.

Special Assistance

Wheelchairs are allowed at the University Credit Union Center. Ushers will direct guests with limited mobility to their seats and a companion can be seated with them.
