Bio

Alyssa Thurston is the Director of the UC Davis Mabie Law Library and teaches Advanced Legal Research. She initially joined the library in 2019 as a Senior Research Law Librarian and also served as Interim Director. Before coming to UC Davis, she worked for eight years at the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law’s Harnish Law Library, where her roles included Research & Electronic Services Librarian and Head of Reference Services.  

Thurston earned a B.A. in International Studies with a focus in East Asian Studies from Middlebury College, a J.D. from UCLA School of Law, and a Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington Information School. She is an active member of the American Association of Law Libraries and the Northern California Association of Law Libraries, and is also a member of the State Bar of California. Her publications include several works in Law Library Journal and a contribution to Integrating Doctrine and Diversity: Inclusion and Equity in the Law School Classroom (Nicole P. Dyslewski et al. eds., Carolina Academic Press, 2021).
