UC Davis Law Raises $21.4 Million in 'Expect Greater' Campaign
The University of California, Davis School of Law raised a remarkable $21.4 million during UC Davis’ eight-year “Expect Greater: From UC Davis, for the World” fundraising campaign. Concluded in June, the campaign generated more than $2.25 billion in support campus-wide.
The King Hall community is invited to a campaign celebration on Friday, Oct. 18. It will feature carnival-inspired games and an expo – with a devoted School of Law booth – at Hutchison Field, followed by a “three-ring spectacular” at the University Credit Union Center hosted by UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May and his wife, LeShelle May.
“We are deeply grateful to all who have given so generously throughout this campaign,” said Chancellor May. “On behalf of our students, faculty and the entire UC Davis community, thank you for believing in our mission and strengthening our impact at home and around the world.”
UC Davis Law received 8,850 gifts during the campaign from more than 3,400 donors, including 1,130 first-time donors. The law school created 77 scholarships from nearly $13.5 million in support. Donors contributed nearly $9 million to current-use funds and more than $12 million to endowments, or invested funds.
Gifts to the campaign enabled UC Davis Law to continue to recruit a strong and diverse student body, further faculty innovation and maintain its long tradition of assisting the most vulnerable among us. This fall, UC Davis Law welcomed one of its most accomplished and diverse first-year classes ever, and the faculty ranked 18th in the nation in scholarly impact. On the clinical front, the world-renowned Immigration Law Clinic won key protections for children in custody.
The larger UC Davis campaign, conducted from July 2016 through June 2024, reached its $2.25 billion total via 133,000 donors worldwide. They gave more than 448,000 gifts and pledges to support UC Davis’ efforts to advance solutions to the planet’s most pressing problems and build a brighter future for California and beyond.
